Spring into Spring

Spring is the time when we naturally start to become more active and may even feel the urge to deep clean our homes. Spring is also the perfect time to deep clean our bodies - a detox. There are many ways you can detox your body - drinking more water, avoiding junk food and exercising. Incorporating more detoxing foods into your diet is another great start to spring - broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, parsley, lemon, beetroot to name a few.

Detoxing with a naturopath is a far more in depth process and involves a Weed, Seed, Feed protocol of herbal and/or nutritional supplements to support the body in a removal of toxins, re-establishing a healthy balanced microbiome and providing your body with all the nutrients it needs for optimal functioning. After detoxing you may find your eyes are brighter, your skin is clearer, you have more energy, your cognitive function improves and you just feel more vital. If you would like any more information on detoxing with me, don't hesitate to get in touch - you body will thank you!

Emotional Wellbeing

If you have found your mental or emotional wellbeing affected by the pandemic, please do not suffer in silence. There is help available and you can reach out to me and I will help where I can or point you in the right direction.

My naturopathic specialty is good mental health and I love to be able to help people soothe those frayed nerves, lift their spirits, find calm in the storm and generally find their centre again. If you would like to know how I can help in this area, again please get in touch. There are some incredible herbs to help in this way.

Home remedies to support good emotional health include -

  • oats for breakfast (if you are not gluten free) - oats are thought to repair and restore our nervous system

  • magnesium rich foods like nuts and seeds eg almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, parsley, spinach and other leafy greens - contact me if you would like a handout

  • magnesium chloride flakes in your bath or footbath to deeply relax you and soothe nerves

  • lavender essential oil in your burner or diffuser or in your magnesium bath flakes. A single drop under your pillow can help with relaxing into sleep.

  • exercise or at the very least a 10 minute walk daily.

  • gardening - contact with the earth to help ground you and bring your energy down from your head back into your body

  • herbal teas including my all time favourite chamomile and passionflower.

Spring is the time to bring out all those beautiful salads and get your juicing habits back on track.
